A dental endoscope is a tiny camera, just 1 mm across, that lets your clinician see tartar deep below the gumline. It's used during scaling and root planing (a “deep cleaning”): the camera fits gently below the gums and magnifies the root surface 24–48 times, guiding the removal of tartar. A traditional deep cleaning relies on touch alone, and studies comparing the two have found more tartar removed and better healing with the endoscope. No referral is necessary to schedule.
